Rules and Regulations

Rules and Regulations

  • Boats must be registered and insured.
  • Anglers must comply with NSW Fisheries and the Waterways Authority rules and regulations.
  • 4 Bass allowed per team in each session.
  • No more than 4 fish in live well at anytime
  • Lure and Fly only – No bait
  • Fish must be no smaller than 30cm to the fork.
  • 1 rod in use at any time per angler
  • Anglers cannot fish within 30m from another competitor unless invited to do so. (Casting distance)
  • This is a catch and release tournament. Boats must have aerated live wells to hold their fish. Bass must swim away unattended to count. Bassin’s weigh master also has the right to refuse any fish that are deamed by him to be of unusually poor condition. ie missing scales/ ripped or damage fins / glazed eyes etc. It is the angler’s responsibility to look after their fish so a good flow through live well or constantly changing of water is of utmost importance.
  • Big fish to be nominated by angler so it can be weighed separately.
  • All safety requirements should be adhered to, PFD personal floating device to be worn when boat is on the plane, lanyards to be attached when motor is running.
  • Late teams penalised at the rate of 50gms per minute they are late from when the session ends. A maximum of .750 grams can be deducted. Teams later than 15 minutes will not have their fish weighed.
  • Anglers are not to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs while competing. Legally required blood alcohol levels must be adhered to.
  • Anglers must attend the Friday night briefing which will be held at 730pm. If you can not attend the briefing a phone call would be great or a message from another angler, just to let us know that you are coming.
  • Bassin NSW also reserves the right to reject a team or individuals nomination to an event.

Teams can change their partners throughout the year if they can’t attend. Each team will carry their own point score throughout the year so if you have to change partners that’s OK. There must be one member from the original team participating though. There will be no grand final as such just the normal rounds during the year. 2009 Champion Teams / 2009 Big Bass etc will be calculated throughout the year from point scores gathered from each round. Our major “Lucky Draw Prize” will also be given away at the last round. For every event that you enter you go into the barrel for a chance to win, but you must be present at the final round.

Starts and Finishes:

  • Before the start can commence all live wells, PFD’s and safety lanyards must be checked and a tag obtained from an organiser. This will be done from a designated area that will be explained at the briefing.
  • All anglers must have their PFD on, and Drivers lanyards attached whilst on the plain, failure to do so will mean disqualification.
  • All boats will have a starting number for each session. Your 1st session start position will be decided by when you’re correctly filled in nomination form and payment has been received by NSW Bassin, i.e. first form sent to organisers, first away.
  • An organizer with a PA will call you past the start line, which will be explained prior to the start. Boats are to idle up to the start line. Once past the start line boat speed can be increased. Boats that fail to do this can be penalized or disqualified. Remember safety comes first.
  • At the end of the session you must have the tag attached to the key board before proceeding to the weigh in station:
NOTE Late boats will be penalised at the rate of 50gms per minute they are late, no exemptions.
  • Results will be displayed after each session and your starting position for the next will depend on what placing you have from the session previous.
