The Blue Acres / Lamiglas Bassin series will be holding our R4 event on the 1st & 2nd August at Lake Glenbawn. So after a big break of around 10 weeks everyone should be pretty keen.
This round will see a change in the makeup of our prize pool. Bassin will still be paying down to 10th position for the top teams but instead of our standard prize packs we will be introducing cash as well. $3300.00 in cash as well as prize packs will be up for grabs for those of you lucky enough to make the top 10. This is based on 60 teams so if we get more entering we can pay further down the line. Please don’t forget that we still purchase a lot of our prizes and with the help from our sponsors there will be around $ 7000.00 in cash and prizes at this event. We feel that these changes will give our sponsors much better exposure along with offsetting some of the high costs associated with fishing tournaments these days, but still maintain the social feel that we are trying to achieve at ou
r events.
There will still be the top 3 Junior awards / The Big Bass / Encouragement and Lucky draws as there always has been, along with the trip to Fiji that can be won by simply entering each event. This prize will be drawn at our last round. But you must be at our last event on the 14th November to claim the trip.
If catering is required for Glenbawn please give Sandra a call on 65438355 to organise your meals.
Hope to see you all soon.

The water level at Lake Glenbawn is currently over 80%. And with the higher water levels comes an increase in weed growth which also encourages an increase in bait, smelt, shrimp, gudgeons etc to breed up. Every bay you go into you will see schools of smelt. So with the increase in the size of the bait schools comes the increase in the size of the bass.
The growth rate of the bass in Glenbawn is amazing with all the fish caught as fat as footballs and looking very healthy. A lot of the fish are also full of roe so their tummies are pretty fat. Come spring, when things start to warm up the fishing should improve even more than it is now. A good few spinnerbaits and Jackalls will certainly be lost to these hard fighting fish.
The bass seem to be a bit scattered about at the moment, but can be caught both hard on the edges or out a little deeper mainly by casting plastics with ¼ oz jig heads or slow rolling blades.
Bassin’s next round on the 1st & 2nd of August should be a cracker, so give your reels a service and increase your leader size as these fish are certainly hitting the lures extremely hard.
Here we have Neil and Ron Scott from Team Squirrel Bros with a great limit of fish caught at Lake Glenbawn this weekend. Ronny’s looking a bit old don’t you think?? We might even have to find someone to cast his line out for him pretty soon.
