After speaking with Marie from Lake St Clair we thought it best to let everyone know who will be competing at our events this year the camping rates that you can expect to be charged when you attend.
As there are no particular allocated camp sites at Lake St Clair you are charged per tent. Your tent is your site.
The rates are $ 16.00 per night per tent which can include up to 2 adults and 2 children. You will also be charged an additional once off $ 7.00 for your boat. Powered sites are also available at $ 22.00 per night.
As you enter the park there will be a motor home on the left of the entrance where you can see Marie and pay your fees for the weekend. If you arrive late that night you can catch up with her the next morning. Also if your partner is arriving later on that night and they are staying in your tent you have to let her know his or her name on your arrival and that person won’t be charged any extra.
So if there are 2 people staying in 1 tent on an unpowered site with a boat over 2 nights that will be $39.00.
Hope this helps.
Our 2009 Blue Acres Lamiglas series is about to commence. This year we will be holding 6 Bass team’s events with the first round kicking off on the 7th March and our first money event the “Bassin Big Bucks” which will be held in October.
The format will be pretty much the same as last year with the top 10 ten teams from each event receiving some great prize packs along with some great gear for the kids. There will also be the usual Lucky Draw prizes and encouragement awards.
Throughout the year your Team’s points from each event will accumulate and the Champion team at the end of the year will win the all expenses paid guided fishing trip. Last year our winners were Team Loomis’s Mick Pascoe and Joel Norman who are heading up to Weipa in April to fish with Allan (Fish) Philliskirk from Weipa Fly Fish. The boys will be doing some great Barra and pelagic fishing.
The Bassin Big Bucks event if you decide to fish this one will be a skins format type event where prize money will be offered up after each session. There will be the usual three sessions throughout the weekend with the cash divided up over those sessions. So say for example, if we get 40 teams, there will be over $10,000 in cash to be won, more teams more cash. As an extra incentive for some more cash, anglers who would like to back themselves also have the opportunity to “Option Up” if they wish. This extra money will be set a side and will be handed over to the leading optioned up anglers after each session. Every session you will get to start fresh again so you have 3 chances to win the cash. Also if you have been lucky enough to get a sponsor for this event, your sponsor will receive a special section allocated on our web site outlining their business and their services. The Big Bucks event will not be included as a Bassin series round, it is a separate event.
We have also made some slight changes to our format and point score system this year. Your teams total point score for 2009 will be calculated from your best four results from the six events. So if your team can’t attend an event you won’t be disadvantaged that much. Fish all six rounds though and you will have more chances to accumulate a better result. These changes have come about by feedback from anglers that have competed throughout last year. Remember that these events are here for you guys so any suggestions that will benefit the series will always be considered.
Anyway hope to see you at some of our events this year.
Bruce
Every couple of weeks we will be adding a brief profile of anglers that fish our tournaments.
10 questions that’s all, nothing too serious. We feel that it will be a great way to get to know everyone a little bit better. So here we go our first angler.
Dennis Roughan

1. Occupation – Truck Driver / Lake Glenbawn’s No 1 Hamburger Chef
2. Favouite fishing location – Lake Glenbawn of course.
3. Preferred equipment – What ever Sandra lets me buy through the shop. Usually just cheap stuff that won’t sell.
4. Favourite lure – Brown Dog Silent Jackall
5. Best tournament result – Finished in first place with Billy Pumpa in Bassin’s R7 2008. Billy and I silenced a lot of people that day.
6. What type of boat do you have: A Quintrex Freedom Sport. A bit embarrassing I know, but Sandra won’t let me get anything else. Would love a Skeeter one day.
7. What advise can you give to aspiring tournament anglers. When the fishing is a bit slow the best thing you can do is lay down on the back deck and sleep or relax until they come on the chew again.
8. Best day’s fishing. Probably the last session, round 7 2008 when we clinched our victory. Billy who I was fishing with was too busy trying to keep other anglers away from our spot at the island and I caught all the fish for the session. What a great feeling that was.
9. Most embarrassing moment: When I sunk our new car off the boat ramp while launching the boat. The handbrake gave way I think.
10. Most influential angler – Probably Harry Watson or Bruce Anderson
Thanks Dennis
